Crew Housing Guide
System: Welfare
Produces: Rest and shelter
What Housing Does
Housing is confirmed part of the welfare layer every outpost needs: the developer's own Kourou walkthrough names "terrestrial medical facilities, mess halls, housing, and other systems" as the structures that must be well-supplied before you leave a world. Your crew are not abstract workers — they are officers with morale whose survival is an explicit goal, and where they live is part of that equation.
How It Connects to Morale
Official copy ties crew outcomes to "morale and prowess" — dangerous encounters test both. Housing is the rest side of that loop: a crew that walks far to work, eats poorly and has no medical cover degrades exactly the way the game warns you about. Keep housing central, and treat new housing as a prerequisite for expanding any crew-heavy building.
What We Still Expect to Learn at Launch
Housing capacity per structure, morale mechanics thresholds, and whether different worlds impose habitat modifiers (cold protection on Kourou) are all unconfirmed. The launch build settles them — this page is on the launch-week backfill list.
