World Comparison Guide - Daegus vs Kourou vs Neral
The two confirmed Outposts Unknown worlds compared: terrain, resources, hazards and how the outpost planning changes on each.

Quick Answer: How Do the Three Confirmed Worlds Compare?
Daegus is the classroom: a tropical oasis where the demo takes place, built to teach the outpost loop on readable open terrain with no announced hazard layer. Kourou is the first exam: a frozen world where glaciers conceal resources, steam fields guard the only organic material, and volcanic badlands punish careless placement. Neral is the final: officially "the most hostile environment in the game with challenges at every turn", with three biomes the developer is keeping under wraps. All three exist for the same mission โ research โ but they reward different planning habits.
| World | Environment | Confirmed Challenge | Key Resource Story | Where You Play It |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Daegus | Tropical oasis, open terrain | Learn the systems | Standard harvesting and production | Steam demo โ playable now |
| 2. Kourou | Glaciers, steam fields, volcanic badlands | Fight the planet | Concealed glacier resources; organic material only in steam fields | Full game โ October 20 |
| 3. Neral | Three biomes โ identities withheld | Survive the finale | Deliberately unrevealed ("lest we spoil your surprise") | Full game โ the last planet |
Daegus: Read Everything, Fight Nothing
Daegus is deliberately transparent. Official footage shows open ground, warm palette and no environmental hazards โ the game wants you learning crew assignment, production chains and logistics without also decoding a hostile map. Your mistakes on Daegus are system mistakes, and the demo exists precisely so you can make them cheaply before launch.
Kourou: Terrain Becomes the Mechanic
Kourou inverts the Daegus lesson. The developer's zone descriptions are all about constrained access: resources you can see but must dig out of moving glaciers, organic material that exists in exactly one zone type, and magma trenches that make placement itself a puzzle. Expect Kourou outpost planning to start from the terrain survey โ where the steam field is, where the badlands are not โ rather than from the building list.
Neral: The Final Exam
Neral completes the escalation the first two worlds set up. Revealed at Gamescom 2026 in Captain's Devlog #3, it is confirmed as "the last planet you'll explore in the X'Lehari System" with "three distinctive biomes (like Kourou and Daegus!)" โ and the developer's own framing is pure endgame: "the most hostile environment in the game". The three-biome structure says Neral will test terrain reading (Kourou's lesson) at a difficulty the classroom world never asked for (Daegus's opposite). What its biomes are, and how the Tetryon Rift story resolves there, is intentionally unrevealed โ this page expands when the launch build or developer posts confirm more.
